Meet Oliver Guide, a travel sharing resource based
on recommendations from travelers you trust.
How about a week or two exploring the mountains of the Wild Wild West?
Day 1: San Francisco- Lake Tahoe
Drive from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe (3-4hrs). Make sure to stop at Ikedas in Auburn for the best dips, marinades and soft serve. They are open for business and stocked with amazing snacks that will keep all travelers happy throughout!
Day 2-3: Lake Tahoe
We recommend checking out a curated resource such as Tahoe Luxury Properties ahead of time to book the perfect summer retreat for your few days by the Lake. With far flung summer travel being postponed we think the early bird will catch the best rentals.
Then dig into Courtney’s Lake Tahoe Oliver Guide for all the needed nitty gritty on good Tahoe fun. We can’t promise everything will be open for business, but we our crossing our fingers! Be sure to grab a raft, floatie or SUP for a lazy ride down the Truckee River – physical distancing all day!
Day 4: Tahoe – Sundance, UT
The drive is long, about 9 hours, but who’s counting…? Leave Tahoe early and head East. You can drive fast in Nevada, stock up on adult beverages and take in the rolling hills in the eastern part of the state as you head towards Utah. (Slow down once in Utah — speeding tickets are common!)
Day 4-6: Sundance, UT
Arrive in Sundance, kick your feet up and enjoy this pretty stop that has it all– food, drink, hikes and entertainment. The resort, founded by Robert Redford in 1969, is a careful balance of art, culture and community; all things we are craving! Check their website for full details; reservations are required for lodging, restaurants and activities. The charm and feel good factor is over the top!
Day 6: Sundance – Colorado
You’ve got options! Aspen, Vail, Telluride- take your pick! The drive is about the same (6 hours+) so choose whichever Colorado Mountain town tickles your fancy. All are heavenly in the summer with wild flowers galore, hiking, rafting on the rivers and yummy take-out restaurants.
Day 7-10: Aspen/Vail/ Telluride
Follow Matt Nemer’s Aspen guide, Cynthia’s Vail guide or Kristine Gardner’s Telluride guide. The guides are loaded with insider scoop on where to stay, what to do and how to enjoy the great outdoors.
And if 10 days is not enough… stay longer. Remote working does have its benefits!
