Meet Oliver Guide, a travel sharing resource based
on recommendations from travelers you trust.
How about a week on the California Coast?
Day 1: San Francisco- Carmel
Start out early and drive from San Francisco to Carmel (2-3hrs). Head to Carmel Valley Ranch, explore the resort and enjoy s’mores, cocktails and dinner by the pool.
Day 2: Carmel
Dive into this charming little beach town with Megan Escher’s Oliver Guide, hit the beach, lunch in town and return to Carmel Valley for dinner.
Day 3: Carmel to Pismo
Take the scenic route down highway 1 stopping at Hearst Castle (if open!) on your way to Pismo Beach (drive time, 3 hours). Check into Dolphin Bay on Shell beach, (right outside of Pismo) and grab dinner at Giuseppe’s Italian or Ventana Grill (great food & great views).
Day 4: Pismo to Ojai
Take a run on the beach and let the kids splash in the pool before making the 2 hour drive to the Ojai Valley Inn in Ojai. On the way, get all the scoop you’ll need in Courtney Murphy’s Oliver Guide to this hip little town.
Day 5: Ojai to Santa Barbara
Enjoy the day in Ojai, and maybe squeeze in a couple hours at the spa before making the quick 45 minute drive to Santa Barbara in time for dinner. We prefer to stay in the quaint town of Montecito, just south of Santa Barbara proper. All the details you need are here.
Day 6: Santa Barbara
Spend the day at the pool, the beach or exploring Santa Barbara. The options are endless.
Day 7: Santa Barbara to SFO
And just like that… it’s over! Time to head back. Make the 5-6 hour drive to SF in one day or maybe stop here for just one more night.
The California coast perhaps? This is what we’d like to pack for a few stops along the way. Or maybe just for the backyard. Get shopping!
