to & from
Fly into Cabo San Lucas and arrange for the hotel to pick you up or rent a car and drive if you plan on exploring surf beaches etc. Todos Santos is about a one hour drive from the Cabo San Lucas airport.
You really do not need a car if you are not surfing– taxis and ubers are available.
Where to Stay
- Hotel San Cristibal is where we stayed and we highly recommend. The food is amazing (as are the drinks) and you are right on the beach (which is good for walking, not swimming). San Cristibal was designed by hotelier/ designer Liz Lambert known for her hotels in Texas such as Hotel Cecilia and feels authentic yet current through and through. The rooms are very chic but somewhat minimal.
Other hotels that have been recommended: - Todos Santos Boutique Hotel, in the middle of town. This opened shortly after we visited so we have not checked it out but looks amazing. Just note it is not near the water.
- Paradero. Very modern and minimal with wellness programs that are intriguing. We had drinks here and apps (both really good!) and found it to feel very cool but a little too stark for a January night. The rooms are not close to the water but they said they had a shuttle that would take guests to their private beach.
Where to Eat and Drink
The food in Todos Santos is wonderful! Fresh, creative, farm-to-table situations night after night!
- DUM
- The Green Room
- Hotel San Cristobal-– all of the restaurants/ bars at the hotel were great! (Benno, Pool Bar, Cosecha, La Playita)
- Jazamango— great range of menu items, fresh and friendly.
What to Do
- Sit by the pool! We were there for a quick weekend girls getaway and so this was our main activity!
- Walk the beach– you can walk a couple miles on sand just out the door. Incredible.
- Hike or mountain bike. There is a great hike right in back of the hotel which we did daily. We also saw people biking this trail.
- Shop. There are a few cute shops in the town of Todos Santos that are worth checking out. Our favorite was Nomad Chic.
- Surf. We did not attempt but the waves are big and many people come to the area to surf.
- Cooking classes, horseback rides and ATV’s are on our list for next time!
Inside Scoop
January can be cold and dark! We were not prepared for the really chilly evenings and found ourselves wearing socks with sandals to dinner. The temps drop in the evenings more than Cabo. (The rooms at Hotel San Cristobal do not have heat.) And outdoor meals after sunset can be really dark this time of year. Next time we will push our trip further into Spring so we can enjoy Al Fresco dining to the fullest.
What to Pack
Todos Santos is chic but not fancy. Sun dresses and bathing suits all day every day.
In the winter months, bring layers.
